When eighty-year-old Cass Goldman learns she has inoperable cancer, she decides to end her life, peacefully on her terms. So imagine her horror when she wakes to find herself in a hospital with strange rich people staring at her. It’s not until the doctor arrives to examine her that she realizes she’s no longer old. She’s in the body of a seventeen-year-old teen named Casey.
Unfortunately, her new body comes with some serious baggage. First of all, the kid has burned every bridge imaginable. Secondly, those ‘people’ in her room are her outrageously rich parents and while the Dad seems friendly, the mother wants nothing to do with her. The moment they take her home to a horrifically huge mansion, which she dubs Tara, she’s abandoned to the care of the butler.
While Cass is determined to turn this train wreck of a life around, doing so is far harder than she expected. In fact, without help, she’ll end up dead just like the last occupant of this body. Thankfully, her dad has his hunky head of security become her bodyguard. Between her eighty years of life lessons and hunky Troy’s help, she just might live long enough not to be jail bait.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The "reincarnation"ish concept may not be a new one, but this was told excellently. It wasn't t just about someone who died and took over someone else's body, who had also just died, and got one big do-over; the "new" Cass was able to relate to the life and death of "old Casey", and was able to make things happen that should have, long before.

I enjoyed meeting the characters. Casey/Cass was totally relatable, as the author did a very good job building the character, and making you not only like her, but care for her and her situations. Her father was someone I came to like, once I found his motives to be pure; but the reason for the previous bad relationship was never brought to light. The reader THOUGHT they understood, until that was revealed to be "not as it appeared". But it didn't detract enough to be an issue. Her mother was one I would have loved to slap some sense into, which says that the author created a believable, definitely unlikeable character.

There were two other strong characters, who both caused their own heartache, to Cass....and me. Both were well developed and likeable...AND unlikeable at times. Those kinds of emotions are true to reality, which I think adds to the depth of a book.

I don't really care for romance, but this book held just a whisper of it, and it played out without making me want to gag (although a little too "spelled out" at tim4s). There was humor, although it was dark, but it fit the circumstances, and I appreciated it. I liked the storyline; it's not one that has been worn out from overuse, and it was a refreshing change for me.

I would happily recommend this book.

Saving Casey Requires Rescue Book 1 edition by Liza O'Connor Romance eBooks Reviews

Joy, too, of course, and Redemption, but the title block wasn't large enough.

When I started reading Saving Casey, I wondered if Ms O'Connor had given too much away in the publicity material she (and friends) have published. Some of the things I thought could have been revealed to good effect when reading the story were already known.

Not to worry! There are twists and turns aplenty. If you're like me, some will be 'Oh, yeah, of course,' and some will be 'Wow! Just, wow!' All were welcome and completely fit the plot.

There are a few questions I wanted answered but were not, but none that detracted from the warm feeling of satisfaction when I hit the 100% mark. I read Saving Casey on my , and opened it using for Mac. Aside from a few typos that didn't bother me, there were no issues with either. Of course, the cover art looked better on the color display of my desktop. My perennial gripe no tale of contents, but then, fiction isn't meant to be skipped hither and yon, so that's not a big deal either.

I categorize this as speculative fiction, as a result of the inciting incident. The rest of the book is well grounded as a YA and adult romance with thriller elements to spice the brew.

I highly recommend Saving Casey to anyone looking for an exciting story incorporating renewal; romance, lost and found, and opportunities, also lost and found. And I strongly suggest watching out for Ms O'Connor's next offering.
Who hasn't thought, I'd like to be young again and know what I know now. I certainly have! That's why I decided to read this book, and I'm glad I did. It's a story about much more than just that. It's about survival, rape, bullying, a disfunctional family, and so much more. Cass wakes up in 17 year old Casey's body, but without Casey's memories, only her own. She uses her 80 years of experience to figure out and fight for justice for Casey and for her own survival in Casey's body. The characters are well developed and we learn who to trust and who not to right along with Cass. I read this book in one day - I couldn't put it down! I look forward to reading more by this author.
I was intrigued by the story premise, but unsure of how well it would be developed by this author who was new to me. As a result, I decided to read it on Unlimited, but halfway through decided this was a book I wanted to own.
It was excellently told and definitely held my interest as details slowly came to light--with some twists. As a retired schoolteacher, I found it was easy to relate to both the dying, elderly Cass and the abused and bullied teen. Although this was an extreme version I’d hope wouldn’t be allowed to happen in any school, it rang true in the basic motivations of bully-enabling parents, fear of community power-wielders, and the acting out of neglected children in dysfunctional families. In addition, who doesn’t love a story where the “underdog” comes out a winner!
I just bought the second book in the series, and I am looking forward to another enthralling read.
When elderly Cass learns she has only a short time to live, she decides to end her life peacefully with her dog at her side. Unfortunately, she doesn't end up in heaven but in the body of 17 year old, Casey who has tried to stay strong for so long. Cass sets out to make things right and with her wisdom she is given a second chance at happiness. And it's one that honors Casey's strong fight.

Ms. O'Connor writes stories with wit and engaging characters. I am a fan of her stories for their off-beat characters where anything happens. I loved how Cass was more matter-of-fact with her solving of Casey's problems. Already all the things that Casey had tried only made things worse...and we come to learn that it may have been a murder (rather than a suicide). It's like you can't see the forest for the trees and in this story Cass is able to see things that Casey and those who love her couldn't!

And for those who thought that Miss Cass didn't get her own reward... phew! She does... after all, who wouldn't love a chance to go back and live life again knowing all that you know! Just imagine getting another chance to find love and happiness! I believe that's a big reward... and in receiving, she made so many people around Casey happy....
